A Quick Glance at the OPPO K5 Phone Supporting VOOC Flash Charge 4.0 and USB Power Delivery Charging

The OPPO K5 was released as a mid range phone at almost the same time as the more premium OPPO Reno Ace flagship phone. For own charging, the OPPO K5 makes use of its own proprietary VOOC Flash Charge 4.0 charging scheme as well as standard USB Power Delivery 3.0 technology over the Type-C interface. The OPPO K5 ships with a 30W VOOC 4.0 AC charger which supports higher power output than the 20W OPPO VOOC Flash Charge charger that shipped with the OPPO Reno2 phone but much lower power compared to the OPPO Reno Ace's own supplied OPPO 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 AC Charger.

Similar to the OPPO Reno Ace, the OPPO K5 can only get up to 10 watts (5 volts @ 2 amps) charging using USB Power Delivery (PD) with its own 30W charger so that USB PD is purposely made much slower charging than VOOC. It is faster to use an external USB Power Delivery (PD) 3.0 based charger to power the phone.

We can see how the OPPO K5 looks like after we purchased and unpacked the phone from its box.

This OPPO K5 model comes with a 128GB 6GB RAM as well as a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G chipset, Adreno 618 GPU and Android 9.0 (Pie) OS among its main specs.

The standard accessories include a USB Type-A to Type-C cable, AC adapter, SIM ejector tool and casing.

The phone allows inserting two SIM cards and an additional microSD card as well as supports NFC.

You can find the fingerprint sensor at the bottom of the phone's display.

The OPPO K5 only has a three camera setup on its back as opposed to the OPPO Reno Ace with four rear cameras. Likewise, both phones still provides the legacy 3.5mm audio headphone jack that is missing on most other recent Type-C phones.

The USB Type-A based AC adapter accessory supports the OPPO VOOC Flash Charge 4.0 system for up to 30 watts (5 volts @ 6 amps) output which needs to be connected to the phone using the supplied USB Type-A to Type-C cable for fastest charging.

The OPPO 30W VOOC 4.0 AC Charger also supports USB PD over Type-C based charging for the phone but only up to 10 watts (5 volts @ 2 amps).
