65W SuperVOOC 2.0 Wall Charger
by Oppo
How Well the OPPO 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 AC Charger Supports Charging Using SuperVOOC
The OPPO 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 AC Charger was shipped with the OPPO Reno Ace to support up to 65 watts (10 volts @ 6.5 amps) of charging for the phone using OPPO's own brand of SuperVOOC flash charging system. This is also the first mobile charger that supports 65W charging and can fully charge the OPPO Reno Ace phone in less than 35 minutes. We tested to see how much power the phone can get from this charger below.
For fastest charging, make sure to connect the OPPO 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 AC Charger to the OPPO Reno Ace using the supplied USB Type-A to Type-C cable accessory.
Note the charger also supports USB Power Delivery (PD) based charging for the phone over Type-C but only up to 10 watts (5 volts @ 2 amps) so that USB PD is purposely made much slower charging than SuperVOOC.
Here we show how the OPPO 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 AC Charger charges the OPPO Reno Ace phone using SuperVOOC when the phone's battery is fully depleted.
Using the GRL-USB-PD-A1 Power Analyzer App, we observe how the OPPO 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 AC Charger delivers power to the OPPO Reno Ace when connected using the supplied USB Type-A to Type-C cable accessory. With a 5 volts rail starting voltage, the phone at 0% battery initially pulls up to about 1 amps current to draw around 5.1 watts (5.1 volts @ 1 amps) from the charger in the first 3 minutes of charging. When the voltage ramps up to a 8 volts rail, the phone pulls higher current to draw around 48.4 watts (8.8 volts @ 5.5 amps) from the charger which is also the max power observed. After 11 minutes of charging, the current pulled starts to step down slowly but when reaching 22 minutes of charging, the voltage then goes up to a 9 volts rail where the phone drops current further down to about 1.5 amps when reaching 30 minutes of charging. Charging then continues to happen at around 13.5 watts (9 volts @ 1.5 amps) for about 2 minutes before the current finally drops down to near zero and the voltage returns to a 5 volts rail as the phone's battery is almost full. Even though the OPPO Reno Ace does not take full advantage of the max 65 watts offered by the OPPO 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 AC Charger, the phone can fully charge in less than 35 minutes with the charger which is still faster than most other charging times.
