A Closer Look at Qualcomm Quick Charge Capabilities of the Moto G6 TurboPower 15W Charger
The Motorola Moto G6 comes with its own 15 watts based Motorola TurboPower Charger while also supporting USB Power Delivery 2.0 technology for fast charging over the phone's USB Type-C interface. The Motorola TurboPower Charger supports 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps) and 14.4 watts (9 volts @ 1.6 amps or 12 volts @ 1.2 amps) charging profiles using its own proprietary TurboPower quick charging scheme. Also there's a possibility that the TurboPower charger may be able to support Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology since it behaves similarly as the LG 16W Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 Power Adapter when charging the LG G7 ThinQ phone in this review.
To verify Quick Charge support on the Motorola TurboPower Charger, we used the USB Power Delivery Compliance C2 Tester from Granite River Labs to run just a subset of the full Quick Charge (QC) Legacy compliance test suite. From the test results, 5V and 12V negotiations were observed over QC but not 9V thus the charger is not QC compliant and failing some QC compliance tests. Note the test results will not be shown here to be maintained as Qualcomm confidential.
