Samsung Can Compete in Ultra Low Cost Smart TV's with the Samsung 32-Inch UN32M4500 Smart LED TV

Despite very price competitive offerings by brands like Hisense, Roku, and Vizio, Samsung retains a stronghold in the Smart TV category. To prove it's not afraid to compete on cost, Samsung is able to sell extremely low priced models in addition to their high-end flagship models. You can buy the Samsung 105-inch 105S9 Curved 4K UHD Smart TV at a unbelievable $150,000 (US $) price, while there are many in the sub $500 price level including the Samsung K4300 Joy Smart TV and Samsung MU6300 4K UHD TV.  

The Samsung 32-Inch UN32M4500 Smart LED TV further exemplifies how low Samsung is willing to go in pricing with a sub $300 price tag and offers a reasonable range of features (but no 4K support). It allows a 1366 x 768 pixels (50 ppi) @ 60 Hz Edge-LED display with 24 bits color range and uses a quad-core processor. By comparison, the Samsung K4300 Joy Smart TV, also a 32-inch non 4K model, provides a higher 1920x1080 display resolution.

For Smart TV functionality, the Samsung 32-Inch UN32M4500 Smart LED TV supports 802.11abgn Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Gigabit Ethernet networking connectivity. It uses a newer Samsung Smart TV user interface for an improved smart TV experience.

We purchased the Samsung 32-Inch UN32M4500 Smart LED TV at a Best Buy in Dublin, California.

Best Buy was well stocked with various Samsung Smart TV models as well as accessories, which offered the Samsung 32-Inch UN32M4500 Smart LED TV at an unbelievably low price of $229.99, which we got to purchase.

The Samsung 32-Inch UN32M4500 Smart LED TV box is pretty standard and conventional.

Inside the box, there are basic TV accessories like remote controller, batteries (for the remote controller), power cable and brick, and stand legs.

The remote controller keeps a very traditional approach, which happens to be very similar to the one that came with the Samsung K4300 Joy Smart TV. While the remote eschews trying to add touch navigation or voice control features, it lacks streaming media hot buttons like Netflix, Amazon, VUDU, and YouTube. The arrow keys are also very small and placed too close to other keys which often get accidentally pressed.

To install the batteries, the battery slot cover on the bottom of the remote controller comes off, allowing you to insert the batteries into the slot. 

The AC power adapter supports 48 watts (19 volts @ 2.53 amps) output power when connected with the supplied power cable to the Samsung 32-Inch UN32M4500 Smart LED TV.

To install the stand legs to the TV, you will need to insert and tighten the supplied screw pins in the leg holes using a screwdriver, similar to setting up the Hisense 50H7C 4K Smart TV (check it out here). Rather, it could have saved a lot of hassle like with the Samsung MU6300 4K UHD TV where the legs already come pre-set.

The Samsung 32-Inch UN32M4500 Smart LED TV also comes with the standard set of HDMI 1.4, USB 2.0, and 10/100 Ethernet ports  along with legacy AV connectivity ports and 802.11ac Wi-Fi support. All the interface panels are located at the back of the TV.

The side interface port panel includes a USB 2.0 (480 Mb/s) port in between one HDMI 1.4 port and another HDMI 1.4 port that supports ARC.

The Samsung 32-Inch UN32M4500 Smart LED TV measures at 744.2 x 441.96 x 68.6 mm and supports Dolby Digital Plus audio, web browser, screen mirroring, and smart apps like a lot of Samsung Smart TV's. The quad-core processor works similarly as on many smartphones to enable multi-tasking and fast switching between watching video content and web browsing. You can also connect a mouse or keyboard to better control the user interface. 

The initial start-up screens below are familiar to those who have set up a Samsung TV.

Like other Smart TV's, the Samsung 32-Inch UN32M4500 Smart LED TV comes with the most popular apps like Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, YouTube, etc.

The entire start-up process is relatively simple and straightforward. If you need to change or fine tune any settings, you can do so in the Setup menu.

The Setup menu has several common configurations including display, sound, broadcasting, system, and general support.

Once you are done with the setup, you can start accessing YouTube videos, browsing the Web and downloading Apps.
