Charge Your USB Power Delivery Enabled Device On the Road Using the Anker PowerCore+ 26800mAh PD with 27W PD Portable Charger Bundle
The Anker PowerCore+ 26800mAh PD with 27W PD Portable Charger Bundle is one of the first chargers in the market that supports USB Power Delivery technology. It comes with both a USB Power Delivery based portable battery as well as a USB Power Delivery AC charger that can be used to rapidly charge newer Mac's and other USB Type-C enabled notebook PC's, phones, and tablets.
Note that Anker warns you on its product page that the Anker PowerCore+ 26800mAh PD with 27W PD Portable Charger Bundle can't be used with some phones like the HTC 10 and the HP Spectre laptops, and also sets some several conditions for using the charger with the Nintendo Switch, Apple MacBook Pro, and Microsoft Lumia 950.
The Anker 30 watts USB Power Delivery based portable battery provides up to 3 amps @ 5 volts on each of its two USB Type-A ports. It also has a USB Type-C port that Anker claims on the back of its casing to support 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps), 27 watts (9 volts @ 3 amps ), 30 watts (15 volts @ 2 amps), and 25 watts (20 volts @ 1.25 amps) over USB Power Delivery.
The 30 watts USB Type-C AC Wall Charger accessory also supports USB Power Delivery that can be used to charge both the battery as well as other USB Type-C based notebook PC's, phones, and tablets. Note this Anker PowerCore+ 26800mAh PD with 27W PD Portable Charger Bundle does not support Qualcomm Quick Charge.
The Anker PowerCore+ 26800mAh PD with 27W PD Portable Charger Bundle arrived in good condition which we purchased through Amazon Prime.
Being one of the premium charger offerings from Anker, the Anker PowerCore+ 26800mAh PD with 27W PD Portable Charger Bundle packaging looks professional with a clean cut blue and white Anker design
Also notice that this Anker charger is a China made product given Anker has its own supply chain in China.
Removing the items from the box, we can see that the Anker PowerCore+ 26800mAh PD with 27W PD Portable Charger Bundle actually comes with the portable battery, charger, one USB Type-A to Micro-B cable, one USB Type-C to Type-C cable, battery carrying bag, and documentation.
The charger itself can output 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps), 27 watts (9 volts @ 3 amps), 30 watts (15 volts @ 2 amps), and 30 watts (20 volts @ 1.5 amps).
The Anker power bank can be seen to advertise USB Power Delivery output profiles of 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps), 27 watts (9 volts @ 3 amps), 30 watts (15 volts @ 2 amps), and 25 watts (20 volts @ 1.25 amps). It can charge using USB Power Delivery input profiles of 5 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps) and 27 watts (9 volts @ 3 amps).
The Anker PowerCore+ 26800mAh PD with 27W PD Portable Charger Bundle conveniently comes with a USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable to charge USB Type-C devices which means you don't need to buy or reuse another USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable.
The USB Type-A to micro B cable is useful for charging your legacy Android phone.
Note not all Anker products are supplied with USB cables such as the Anker PowerPort+ 5 USB-C with USB Power Delivery charger which we had previously reviewed.
The Anker PowerCore+ 26800mAh PD with 27W PD Portable Charger Bundle has a similar design to the more budget RAVPower Xtreme 26800mAh Portable Charger with Type C Port + 30W Type-C AC Charger which also comes with both USB Power Delivery based portable battery and charger. Both Anker and RAVPower also sport a power indicator button on the top face of the battery itself. (Note see this review to get our close-up on the RAVPower charger.)
Like RAVPower, you will also find all the USB ports on one end of the Anker battery. But unlike RAVPower, the Anker battery's input uses a USB Type-C connector instead of the micro USB Type-B which allows for fast charging through USB Power Delivery. You can use the provided USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable between the included charger and the battery to enjoy the fastest charging up to 27W.
If you want to quickly charge your USB Type-C device through this USB Type-C port, make sure to press the power indicator button before connecting your device to turn on USB Type-C output.
The Anker battery also supports charging through its two USB Type-A ports. These USB Type-A ports promise to offer rapid charging for various phones and tablets using Anker's own branded PowerIQ technology.
The Anker PowerCore+ 26800mAh PD with 27W PD Portable Charger Bundle may seem more bulky than most portable chargers out there but is great for those who want a high capacity power bank with USB Power Delivery fast charging capabilities. We look forward to testing the Anker PowerCore+ 26800mAh PD with 27W PD Portable Charger Bundle on various USB Power Delivery and USB Type-C products in the market.
