Apple Brings the Same Elegance but More Power to its New 15-inch MacBook Pro
With the newly released Apple 15" MacBook Pro (2017), Apple seems to focus more on upgrading the Mac's hardware rather than appearance. In fact the new Mac looks very much like the previous Apple 15" MacBook Pro (Late 2016) but is kept up-to-date with the latest technologies.
The Apple 15" MacBook Pro (2017) plays to the strengths of its Apple 15" MacBook Pro (Late 2016) sibling by also offering four USB Type-C ports on the Touch Bar, all of which are Thunderbolt 3 enabled. These Thunderbolt 3 enabled USB Type-C connectors support Thunderbolt 3 (40 Gb/s), USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10 Gb/s), DisplayPort 1.2, and USB Power Delivery.
Like the 2016 version, the Apple 15" MacBook Pro (Late 2016) can be charged while connected to a Thunderbolt and USB Type-C based display or docking station over the same Thunderbolt 3 connector. With Thunderbolt 3, not only you can connect the Mac to dual 5K or four 4K displays but also daisy chain various storage, display, and audio/video creation and editing peripherals.
While the Apple 15" MacBook Pro (Late 2016) runs on the Intel Skylake processor, the Apple 15" MacBook Pro (2017) now supports the newer and more powerful 2.9GHz Intel Kaby Lake (7th Generation) processor. The new 2017 Mac also comes with the higher end Radeon Pro 560 graphics than the 2016's 455 version.
Besides a more updated operating system, there's not much difference between both 2017 and 2016 models. Both also support a battery life of up to 10 hours and come with the same 87W USB-C charger.
As expected, Apple sticks to the same premium pricing for its notebook PC's including the Apple 15" MacBook Pro (2017). However those who are willing to splurge can try out the new 2017 Mac to enjoy the latest and powerful macOS experience.
For upcoming reviews, we can't wait to find out how well the new Apple 15" MacBook Pro (2017) performs with other peripherals and accessories.
