The trends for Australia's electronics retail are similar to the US where such long standing brick and mortar chains like Dick Smith Electronics have failed becoming online only retail destinations. Other chains like Harvey Norman and JB Hi-Fi are still surviving but Amazon retail is planning warehousing in Australia to increase the market share it already has.

JB Hi-Fi still has a strong retail presence primarily focused on electronics and we took a look at one in the Springvale Homemaker Centre near Melbourne, Australia.

Upon entering the store, we could see Google Home being heavily promoted- in general Google has been advertising Google Home a lot in Australia.

Not surprisingly, both Belkin and Moshi are carried by JB Hi-Fi and here we could see quite a lot of USB Type-C accessories being sold like the Belkin USB-C Car Charger + CableBelkin USB-A to USB-C CableBelkin USB-C to Ethernet AdapterMoshi USB-C Multiport AdapterMoshi USB-C to HDMI Adapter, and Moshi USB-C to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter.

Australian brand Cygnett also had a few USB Type-C cables like the Cygnett 10cm USB-C to USB-C Cable although no USB Power Delivery chargers or power banks were seen.

The TV's sold at JB Hi-Fi include large international brands from HiSense, LG, Samsung, and Sony.

However, there were a lot of low priced Soniq branded TV's owned by China based Quatius who plays a price spoiler role similar to Vizio in the US.

The Nintendo Switch was also recently restocked and available at this JB Hi-Fi.

One of the nice things about JB Hi-Fi is the wide range of smartphone brands available from just about every major brand around the world.

Even HTC, which is a lot less visible in US markets, captured premium display space with its HTC U Ultra. Other phones like the Google Pixel, Huawei P10 PlusLG V20, and Samsung Galaxy S8 were on display as well as phones from Apple, Blackberry, Oppo, Nokia, and ZTE. It's interesting to see how many more brands and models are available in Australia compared to the US where you typically see less brands available in retailers.

JB Hi-Fi has an interesting selection of electronics brands, having access to brands and models from around the world. Hopefully like Best Buy, it will be able to survive the growing onslaught of online retail in Australia.
