One of the nice improvements that LG has made with the LG G6 over the LG G5 is the addition of wireless charging. This allows the LG G6 to better compete against the Samsung Galaxy S8 and rumors of upcoming wireless charging support on the iPhone.

The LG G6 supports Qi wireless charging which is also supported by Samsung phones and wireless charging docks like the Fast Charge Wireless Charging Stand. When we set the LG G6 on top of the Samsung Fast Charge Wireless Charging Stand, we found that the LG G6 immediately showed a pop-up window stating that the phone was charging wirelessly.

 

In the phone's settings menu, we opened the Battery & power saving screen and saw that the LG G6 was reporting that it was being wirelessly charged. 

  

However, charging was slow and seemed no better than charging from a USB 3.1 Type-A port delivering 4.5 watts. Charging was much faster through higher charging wattage using Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 as seen from this review or through USB Power Delivery as described in this review.
