What happens if you connect a LG Google Nexus 5X directly to a Huawei Google Nexus 6P using a USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable? Unfortunately, you don't get a magical infinite charging setup where the two phones charge either other to eternity.
Instead, you need to determine which phone will be the power provider and which phone will be power consumer. Once you connect the phones, you will see a USB for charging notification.
After you select this notification, you can choose which phone will be the power source and which phone will get charged.
If you want to transfer photos between the phones, you can select which phone will be the camera by selecting PTP. You can then easily transfer photos to the other Nexus.
