Tesla Finally Enables Autopilot for Telsa X with Enhanced Autopilot 2.0 Hardware

Tesla finally released the new software update so that user who purchased Tesla Model X models with Enhanced Autopilot 2.0 hardware can actually start Autopilot features.  With the software at v8.0 (17.3.2), the Tesla is able to begin the first phase of the Enhanced Autopilot rollout which includes forward collision warning, traffic-aware cruise control, and low-speed autosteer.

We find it interesting that when Tesla pushes a new software update, they don't let you know ahead of time what the software update actually changes (unlike PC, phone, and other IT products).  You just have to trust Tesla.

Only after the software is updated and installed can you learn about what new features are enabled.

While forward collision warning and traffic-aware cruise control are nice features, the star of the show, autosteering, is currently only enabled when are driving between 18 mph and 45 mph.

After the update, the main differences are seen in the Settings->Driver Assistance screen.

Achieving highway ready autosteering evidently is going to take a while longer when Tesla feels like they have collected enough information.   We look forward to new software updates as Tesla continues to phase in more features through the rest of the year.
