Like other older interfaces like USB Type-A and HDMI, the Apple has also removed the SD card slot in its MacBook Pro (Late 2016).  Apple never supported the latest generation of SD card technology in its previous MacBook Pro models but now it can through indirectly with the SanDisk Extreme Pro SD UHS-II Card USB-C Reader now sold in its Apple Store.

The SanDisk Extreme Pro SD UHS-II Card USB-C Reader is the first UHS-II based SD card reader that supports a USB Type-C connector.  UHS-II is the fastest SD card technology available that is supported by a growing number of high end cameras.  The SanDisk Extreme Pro SD UHS-II Card USB-C Reader can also support SD cards that don't support UHS-II.

Like other SanDisk products sold at the Apple Store, black and silver color scheme is a great match for the Space Grey and Silver colors available on the MacBook Pro (Late 2016).
