The Samsung Galaxy S8 supports DisplayPort 1.2 over its USB Type-C connector but we found that it has problems outputting HDMI video through the Plugable USB-C Triple Display Docking Station with USB Power Delivery.
We connected the Samsung Galaxy S8 to the Plugable USB-C Triple Display Docking Station with USB Power Delivery using a USB 3.1 Type-C to Type-C cable.
However, when we tried to connect either of the two HDMI connectors of the Plugable USB-C Triple Display Docking Station with USB Power Delivery to the LG B6 OLED 4K HDR Smart TV - 65" Class using a HDMI cable, no video was outputted to the TV.
We can see there are USB Power Delivery protocol transactions between the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the Plugable USB-C Triple Display Docking Station with USB Power Delivery to negotiate going into DisplayPort Alternate Mode. However, in the end there seems to be a problem with the Samsung Galaxy S8's DisplayPort output working with the Plugable USB-C Triple Display Docking Station with USB Power Delivery's DisplayPort to HDMI converter.
We can observe from the USB Power Delivery transactions that the Samsung Galaxy S8 is requesting 5 volts @ 3 amps from the Plugable USB-C Triple Display Docking Station with USB Power Delivery, although with the Samsung Galaxy S8 being fully charged, it wasn't drawing much current when the below oscilloscope screenshot was taken.
