Other than supporting USB Power Delivery technology, the Samsung Galaxy A5 gets its own 15 watts Adaptive Fast Charging from the Samsung Adaptive Fast Charging Charger that came together with the phone. Let’s find out if the Samsung charger is able to rapidly charge the Samsung Galaxy A5 when connected directly using the USB Type-A to USB Type-C cable that is supplied with the charger.

To determine the power charging behavior between both Samsung phone and charger, we look at the power graph via the GRL-USB-PD-A1 software by Granite River Labs.

When 49% charged and turned on, the Samsung Galaxy A5 starts drawing power to around 6.2 watts (8.8 volts @ 0.7 amps). When the phone is off or in sleep mode, it pulls higher current to eventually charge at about 12.3 watts (8.8 volts @ 1.4 amps). The Samsung Galaxy A5 was also seen getting around the same power levels from other chargers like the Google 18W USB-C Power Adapter (in this review) and Anker PowerCore+ 26800mAh PD (click here) while the phone is both active and inactive.
