The Huawei SuperCharge charger was launched to support the Huawei Mate 9 and Huawei P10 but let's see how well it works with the Huawei P9. The Huawei P9 has a USB Type-C connector but it doesn't support Huawei SuperCharge or any other fast charging technology.
When we first plugged in the Huawei P9 to the Huawei SuperCharge using a USB Type-A to Type-C cable, starting with a fully depleted battery the phone took about 168 minutes to fully charge.
During the first 18 minutes, the Huawei P9 pulled 5 volts @ 2 amps from the Huawei SuperCharge after which the phone was turned on and the current dropped to 1.5 amps. It appears the phone would frequently enter into sleep mode resulting in the current going up to 2 amps before the phone would be awake again at which point the current would drop down to 1.5 amps.
After about 76 minutes, the current would start slowly dropping from 2 amps down to eventually close to .1 amps as the battery became fully charged.
Using the Huawei SuperCharge with the Huawei P9 is just like using any other 10W charger.
