The AUKEY CC-T7 Car Charger is one of the few car chargers in the market that supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.

The AUKEY CC-T7 Car Charger has 2 USB Type-A ports- the orange colored one supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 port. The Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 have the following power profiles: 6-6.5 volts @ 3 amps, 6.5-9 volts @ 2 amps, 9-12 volts @ 1.5 amps. The green AiPower port provides 5 volts @ 2.4 amps.

The LG G5 supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 over USB Type-C. Let's see how well it works with the orange Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 charger port like the AUKEY CC-T7 Car Charger and how that compares with using the green AiPower port.

While charging the phone with its battery at 0% charge, we can observe from the oscilloscope screenshot that the voltage is 6V and has maximum current of 0.87A.

With the battery at 25% charge, we can observe from the oscilloscope screenshot that voltage is 6.1V and maximum current has decreased to 0.87A

When the battery is at 50% charge, we can see in oscilloscope screenshot that voltage is 6V and maximum current is 0.86A

Here is the oscilloscope screenshot with the battery at 75% charge which shows the voltage as 6.2V and maximum current as 0.78A.

The screenshot below shows the voltage and current when the battery is fully charged.

This is another screenshot that shows the D+/D- signaling sequences used to determine what voltage/current to be delivered.

The following graph shows how the LG G5 draws different current levels (with voltage at 6 volts) as the battery charges from zero to full.

The total power drawn by the LG G5 is generally about 3.7 to 5.4 watts which is less than what we saw with the AUKEY PA-T16 Dual-Port USB Wall Charger.  This results in the LG G5 taking around 1 hour 40 minutes to charge completely while the phone is powered on with the AUKEY CC-T7 Car Charger.

Let's see how well it charges the LG G5 using the AiPower adaptive port.

The following graph shows how the LG G5 draws different current levels (with voltage at 5.0 volts) as the battery was getting charged from zero to full. Interestingly, much higher current was being pulled using the green AiPower adaptive port compared to the orange Qualcomm Quick Charge port.

The AiPower port provides about 10 watts to charge the LG G5.  This LG G5 takes around 1 hour 50 minutes to charge completely while the phone was powered on with the AUKEY CC-T7 Car Charger.  Interestingly, despite much high current being delivered by the AiPower port, there wasn't an improvement on the total charge time.
