The Moto X4 comes with a 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps) based Motorola TurboPower Charger and we recently saw in this review how well they performed through Lenovo’s proprietary TurboPower quick charging scheme.

Let's now see how long it takes between the Moto X4 and its own charger during the entire time the phone gets charged starting with its battery completely depleted.

Plugging in the Motorola TurboPower Charger to the Moto X4 with a USB Type-A to Type-C cable, we use the Granite River Labs GRL-USB-PD-A1  analyzer software to observe the TurboPower based charging. Total charging time observed was about 115 minutes with the power starting at around 15.8 watts (5.1 volts @ 3.1 amps) during the first 30 minutes that the Moto X4 charges the fastest. Throughout charging, the voltage level stays around 5.1 volts as the current is drawn.

When initially connected with a dead battery, the Moto X4 begins to pull current up to about 3.1 amps. After about 28 minutes, the current drawn ramps down to 2 amps.

After about 55 minutes of charging from the start, the current then ramps all the way down to below .1 amps at the battery gets fully charged.

Overall charging is relatively fast which doesn't really take a long time for the Moto X4 to get fully charged. Besides TurboPower, the phone can also charge using USB Power Delivery technology over USB Type-C as observed here using a third party compatible charger.
