The Samsung Adaptive Fast Charging Charger that comes with the Samsung Galaxy S8 uses Samsung's proprietary quick charging scheme to rapidly charge the phone through the phone's USB Type-C connector.

To see how fast the Samsung Galaxy S8 gets its battery topped up using its own charger, we connect both the charger and phone directly using the USB Type-A to USB Type-C cable that is supplied with charger.

Looking at the power graph, the Samsung Galaxy S8 starts pulling 10.8 watts (9 volts @ 1.2 amps) from zero charge.

After about 70 minutes, the power steadily drops down to around 0.9 watts (9 volts @ 0.1 amps) as the Samsung Galaxy S8's battery becomes fully charged.

We can see that it takes around 1 hour and 54 minutes for the Samsung Adaptive Fast Charging Charger to charge the Samsung Galaxy S8 to full from a fully depleted battery. By comparison, when tested using third party chargers like the Innergie PowerGear USB-C 45 and Ventev Wallport rq2300 Wall Charger in this review, we observed that the phone would take a little less than 1 hour and 40 minutes when the battery is near fully depleted. Since the phone would take longer to be charged from zero battery level, these chargers show a similar charge time of just below 2 hours to fully charge the phone.
