How the Ventev Wireless Chargepad+ Gets Power Supplied By the Kworld QC2.0 5-Port Fast Charger (TC-05) Using Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0

The Ventev Wireless Chargepad+ uses its shipped 18W based power adapter accessory for own power supply while claiming support for Qualcomm Quick Charge technology. We confirm this by using a third party 30W based Kworld QC2.0 5-Port Fast Charger (TC-05) to charge the Ventev Wireless Chargepad+ through Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0. The Kworld charger has a single Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 enabled port out of its total five USB connectors which supports outputs of 10 watts (5 volts @ 2 amps), 13.5 watts (9 volts @ 1.5 amps) and 14.4 watts (12 volts @ 1.2 amps) power profiles.

We attached the Kworld QC2.0 5-Port Fast Charger (TC-05) to the Ventev Wireless Chargepad+ using the Ventev's own supplied USB Type-A to Type-C cable accessory. Initially the voltage was observed to start off at 5 volts but later increased to settle on a 8.9 volts rail in the first 10 seconds. During this time almost no current was pulled by the Ventev charging pad. Only after the first 18 seconds charging started to happen where the Ventev charging pad quickly pulled current to about 0.4 amps to draw around 3.6 watts (8.9 volts @ 0.4 amps) power from the charger. This then followed by some brief trickle charging after which subsequent charging began to settle out at around 4.45 watts (8.9 volts @ 0.5 amps). At this rate charging will be very slow and seem no better than charging from a standard USB 3.1 Type-A port delivering 4.5 watts. Charging could have been much faster through higher charging wattage using Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.
