Canon EOS M6 is a Classic Way for Mirrorless Photography

Many of the legacy camera brands that are still popular today originated from Japan such as Canon, Sony, Nikon, and Fujifilm. While they are well established worldwide, they are less visible in the US market which is dominated by major players like GoPro and Olympus. To differentiate itself, Canon has released their first EOS M Series Digital SLR cameras that support mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera  (MILC) technology including the Canon EOS M6 model. 

With MILC technology, the Canon EOS M6 is more compact than the standard DSLR camera by having multiple lenses in place of the traditional optical mirror/viewfinder. It uses a 24.2 MP CMOS (APS-C) Sensor with phase detection that can quickly capture images and video. Backed by a DIGIC 7 image processor, the camera is capable of capturing clear photos at 7fps speed and Full HD video up to 1920x1080 @ 60fps.

While the Canon EOS M6 lacks in 4K support and provides only USB 2.0 performance, Canon has to deal with cheaper competition such as the Sony α6000 E-mount Camera with APS-C Sensor, also a mirrorless camera. Both cameras share almost the same specs but the Sony α6000 has the advantage of having additional viewfinder, sharper focus, faster capture rate at 11fps, and also 46g less weight.

To take a closer look, we purchased the Canon EOS M6 which includes the camera itself, battery charger and power cable, camera battery,  EF-M lenses and mount adapter, neck strap, user documentation and start-up CD in the box.

The Canon EOS M6 retains the charm and elegance of a old school camera which is lacking in many modern camera designs these days.

The Canon EOS M6 supports HDMI 1.4 through a Micro Type-D connector as well as SD UHS-I cards.
