Thunderbolt 3 Makes a Great Addition to the New Apple 21.5-inch iMac with Retina 4K Display
By supporting Thunderbolt 3, the new 21.5" iMac with Retina 4K Display (Mid 2017) is now faster and more powerful than the 2015 model being based on the seventh generation Intel Core i5 processor. The newly released iMac offers two Thunderbolt 3 USB Type-C ports which support Thunderbolt 3 (40 Gb/s), USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10 Gb/s), and DisplayPort 1.2 to connect with one 5K@60hz display or two 4K@60hz displays.
Graphics editing professionals will find the 21.5" iMac with Retina 4K Display (Mid 2017) very useful through its high quality 4K color accurate screen. This is achieved by supporting additional wide color P3 standard and 500 nits brightness on the iMac's display. Its built in graphics processor of up to 4GB Radeon Pro 560 also gives superb graphics performance.
We purchased the 21.5" iMac with Retina 4K Display (Mid 2017) in Taiwan which came in the same trapezoid shaped box as its earlier model.
Taking out the iMac is as simple as rotating down the front ot the iMac box to fully open the box.
The iMac comes with standard accessories that include a wireless keyboard, mouse, power cable, Lightning to USB cable, cleaning cloth, and Apple stickers.
The iMac offers many interface ports that complement well to ultra thin notebook models that only have limited ports like the Apple MacBook (Early 2015).
In addition to two Thunderbolt 3 ports, the iMac also provides four USB 3.1 Gen 1 (5 Gb/s) ports, one Gigabit Ethernet 1000BASE-T port , one SDXC SD card slot, and one headphone output jack.
There's also a Kensington lock slot behind the iMac's stand.
The iMac's wireless mouse and keyboard have rechargeable batteries which can be recharged from the iMac USB ports or your own USB power chargers through the Lightning to USB cable.
The 21.5" iMac with Retina 4K Display (Mid 2017) is a great user experience for those who don't mind investing more on superior 4K graphics in a high performance PC.
