OWC Showcases Its Thunderbolt 3 and USB Type-C Products at NAB 2016
Other World Computing (OWC) is well know for providing accessories to Mac enthusiasts so its no surprise to see a full line-up of USB Type-C and Thunderbolt products at their NAB 2016 booth.
For Thunderbolt products, OWC displayed their upcoming high performance Envoy Pro EX with Thunderbolt PCIe SSD drive which supports Thunderbolt 3 (40 Gb/s), a follow-on to the Envoy Pro EX which supports USB 3.1 Gen 1 (5 Gb/s). Both the Envoy Pro EX with Thunderbolt and the Envoy Pro EX have up to 1 TB in storage capacity.
OWC also has the Envoy Pro mini which also supports fast SSD performance but in a smaller form factor and a storage capacity of up to 480 GB.
OWC also displayed the Helios 3, a Thunderbolt 3 based expansion chassis.
OWC has Drive Dock which allows you to easily connect external SATA drives to a Mac either using a Thunderbolt 2 (20 Gb/s) or USB 3.1 Gen 1 (5 Gb/s) link.
To those with larger storage needs, OWC has the ThunderBay 4 RAID which connects 4 drives over Thunderbolt 2 to a Mac.
If you want a smaller version of the ThunderBay 4 RAID, OWC also has the ThunderBay 4 mini RAID for 2.5" drives.
Other than storage docks, OWC offers Thunderbolt and USB Type-C docking stations for the Mac.
The Thunderbolt 2 Dock supports two Thunderbolt 2 ports, Firewire 800, Gigabite Ethernet, HDMI 1.4, and audio I/O.
OWC was also one of the first to release the USB-C Dock which has a USB Type-C connection for your Apple MacBook (Early 2015). This Dock has 4 downstream USB Type-A ports, 1 downstream USB Type-C port, Gigabit Ethernet, SD Card, HDMI 1.4, and audio I/O which can then be accessed by the MacBook when the MacBook is connected to the dock using a USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable.
OWC's Thunderbolt and USB Type-C products will definitely appeal to its loyal customer base who enjoy well designed Mac accessories paired with good support
