How to Watch NetFlix in Your Hotel Room with the Amazon Fire HD 8.9
Belkin has done a good job in making sure its Miracast Adapter works with as many other products as possible. This includes the Amazon Fire HD 8.9 Tablet which ironically has problems with Miracast on Amazon's own Fire TV Stick. I tried this at the Novotel Muenchen Airport which had a nice Philips Ultimate HD Hospitality LCD TV (Model 26HFL5870D). Although the WI-FI in the hotel wasn't working too well, the Philips TV worked well over HDMI with the Belkin Miracast Video Adapter. Connection was all through Philips' Connectivity Panel which makes it easier to plug in your devices without having to hunt for the right interface port in the back of the TV. Conveniently, the Connectivity Panel also offers USB which can power devices like the Belkin Miracast Video Adapter. As soon as you plug in the Belkin Miracast Video Adapter to the Connectivity Panel's HDMI port, the TV automatically switches to the Belkin Adapter's HDMI source. Starting the Display Mirroring process in the Display & Sounds part of Settings is pretty self explanatory, and mirroring to the Belkin Adapter (which masquerades itself as the Philips TV) is quick and easy. So when should you use display mirroring instead of using the Amazon HDX 8.9 to remotely control something like the Fire TV Stick? I found that Amazon Prime didn't work during my travels in Europe but NetFlix didn't have this problem. However, the NetFlix App doesn't support remote play control to the Fire TV Stick. By simply taking advantage of display mirroring, you can still watch your favorite shows like Marvel's Daredevil TV Series on your TV through the Belkin Miracast Video Adapter.
