A Closer Look at the Pihen 65W AC Adapter, a USB Power Delivery Based Charger Sold in China

A lot of the USB Power Delivery based chargers sold in the US come from China, but surprisingly it's harder to buy USB PD based chargers in China itself. We did manage to find some USB PD chargers like this Pihen 65W AC Adapter from JD.com. 

Opening up the packaging, the Pihen 65W AC Adapter has a permanently attached cable and comes with some documentation.

The Pihen 65W AC Adapter only supports 220V AC which makes it difficult to be used when traveling to different countries.  

The Pihen 65W AC Adapter's casing states different voltage and current profiles than what we found are supported when we tested the charger. The charger actually supports 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps), 27 watts (9 volts @ 3 amps), 45 watts (15 volts @ 3 amps), and 60 watts (20 volts @ 3 amps).

Using the USB Power Delivery Compliance C2 Tester from Granite River Labs to run just a subset of the full USB Power Delivery compliance test suite, we can confirm that the Pihen 65W AC Adapter uses the following PDO's for charging- 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps), 27 watts (9 volts @ 3 amps), 45 watts (15 volts @ 3 amps), and 60 watts (20 volts @ 3 amps) rather than those listed on the casing. Note some compliance failures were observed.
