A Closer Look at the Thunderbolt 3 Enabled MSI 14-inch GS43VR Phantom Pro Notebook
Like the MSI GS73VR Stealth Pro, the MSI 14-inch GS43VR Phantom Pro Notebook is part of the wave of Virtual Reality Ready Windows PC's now available in the market which are designed to work with premium VR headsets like the HTC VIVE and Oculus Rift. These VR ready PC's typically include quad core processors, high end graphics GPU's, and a lot of RAM.
The MSI 14-inch GS43VR Phantom Pro Notebook supports Thunderbolt 3 which uses the USB Type-C port to support Thunderbolt 3 (40 Gb/s), USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10 Gb/s), DisplayPort 1.2 to connect with 4K@60hz displays, and USB Power Delivery. Note that this notebook does not support being charged from third party accessories over its USB Type-C port.
The 14-inch version is the least expensive version of the GS43VR Phantom Pro Notebook family which also comes in 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch versions which also have more SSD drive capacity options (256GB and 512GB vs the 128GB that is only available on the 14-inch). All families enjoy NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 1060 GPU and 1TB hard drive capacity.
We purchased the MSI 14-inch GS43VR Phantom Pro Notebook from Amazon Prime which was delivered in a couple days. MSI doesn't spend a lot of time on packaging niceties and rather focuses on providing high performance specs at affordable prices.
The MSI 14-inch GS43VR Phantom Pro Notebook comes with an AC Adapter, CD-ROM, and documentation.
On the right side of the MSI 14-inch GS43VR Phantom Pro Notebook, there is a Thunderbolt 3 based USB Type-C, a USB 3.1 Gen 1 (5 Gb/s) Type-A, and a HDMI 1.4 port.
On the left side of the MSI 14-inch GS43VR Phantom Pro Notebook, we can see an Ethernet port, AC power input, USB 3.1 Gen 1 (5 Gb/s) port, SD card slot, and audio jacks.
On the back of the MSI 14-inch GS43VR Phantom Pro Notebook, there is a mini DisplayPort connector to attach to monitors.
