LG Packs USB Type-C on Its Lightweight 15-inch LG gram Laptop
LG Electronics released its first lightest gram laptop series at the same time Windows 10 was launched in the US. At just 980 grams, the LG gram Touch 15" Laptop (2016) model has been upgraded from the earlier LG gram 14" Laptop (Late 2015) to offer an additional USB Type-C port supporting USB Power Delivery. Powered by the Intel Core i5 6200U processor (up to 2.8 GHz), the new 15.6 inch notebook supports full Windows 10 64-bit features and comes with 256GB SSD, 8GB DDR3L SDRAM, and micro-SD flash memory. It offers native Bluetooth 4.0 and 802.11ac dual band WIFI/Bluetooth combo, as well as Ethernet connectivity through a USB Type-C to Ethernet adapter.
The LG logo can be seen embedded on the top corner of the laptop.
The notebook which measures at 14.08 x 8.99 x 0.66 inches is included with a lithium polymer 34.61Wh battery.
The left side of the LG gram Touch 15" Laptop (2016) includes a DC input jack along with one USB 3.1 Gen 1 (Type-A, 5 Gb/s) port, an HDMI connector, and a USB Type-C port which supports USB 3.1 Gen 1 (5 Gb/s), DisplayPort 1.2 to connect with 4K@60hz displays, and uses USB Power Delivery technology. This USB Type-C port also enables 40 watts of charging over USB Power Delivery to charge the laptop.
Also located on the same side are the power status and drive access LEDs.
On the right, there is another USB 3.1 Gen 1 (Type-A, 5 Gb/s) port as well as a USB 2.0 port, a Kensington lock slot, a microSD card slot, and a headphone jack.
