A Quick Look At the Apple 96W USB-C Power Adapter That Shipped with the Apple 16" MacBook Pro (2019)
The Apple 96W USB-C Power Adapter that shipped with the Apple 16" MacBook Pro (2019) supports USB Power Delivery rapid charging for the Mac. This is in fact the highest power USB Power Delivery based charger from Apple released to date.
The Apple charger claims to deliver up to 96W (20.5V@4.7A) power to the Mac when connected through the Mac's Thunderbolt 3 port. The USB Type-C to Type-C cable that came with the Mac should be used to connect the Apple charger and Mac for optimum charging.
Using the USB Power Delivery Compliance C2 Tester from Granite River Labs to run just a subset of the full USB Power Delivery compliance test suite, we can see that the Apple 96W USB-C Power Adapter supports the following power profiles- 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps), 27 watts (9 volts @ 3 amps), 45 watts (15 volts @ 3 amps) and 94 watts (20 volts @ 4.7 amps) for charging. Some compliance failures were also observed for this charger.
