The Google Universal Type-C Charger 60W was one of the first USB Power Delivery chargers released inn the market so let's see if the charger can work properly with the 13" MacBook Pro (Late 2016) over USB Power Delivery.

Using the software from Granite River Labs, we will view the USB Power Delivery Protocol transactions between both devices during charging.

The Google Universal Type-C Charger 60W initially claims to provide the following power profiles: 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps), 36 watts (12 volts @ 3 amps) and 60 watts (20 volts @ 3 amps).

The 13" MacBook Pro (Late 2016) in turn requests 20 volts @ 3 amps from the Google Universal Type-C Charger 60W.

From the software, we can also observe the 13" MacBook Pro (Late 2016) behaving as a Sink and supporting the power profiles of FS (Fixed Voltage & Current) 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps), VS (Variable Voltage & Fixed Current) (4.75 - 21) volts @ 3 amp and Constant Power of 60 watts.

Further testing on an oscilloscope shows that the Google Universal Type-C Charger 60W provides 20 volts @ 0.7 amp to the 13" MacBook Pro (Late 2016) when fully charged.

These results indicate that the 13" MacBook Pro (Late 2016) can support charging with the Google Universal Type-C Charger 60W at the same charging level as the Mac's own Apple 61W USB-C Power Adapter.
