After some failed attempts with trying to play 4K content from a USB drive, I resorted to just playing 4K content from the Apple Macbook (Early 2015). Since the USB Type C is the only interface port available on the Macbook, you need to use the Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter to connect between the Macbook USB Type C port and the HDMI cable attached to the Sony 4K TV.
The Apple MacBook is actually outputting DisplayPort while the Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter converts DisplayPort into HDMI for the Sony 4K TV.
Although the 3840X2160p video resolution was only at 30Hz (not the maximum 60 Hz allowed), it was still stunning to see the crispness and minute details of 4K.
Now only if it was easier to get 4K content.
