The USB Type-A based Samsung 25W USB-C Fast Charging Wall Charger uses Samsung’s proprietary Adaptive Fast Charging technology to support charging for not only the latest Samsung Galaxy phones but other compatible mobiles as well. We see how this Samsung 25W charger performs with certain non Adaptive Fast Charging enabled phones like the Google Pixel which supports USB Power Delivery technology over its USB Type-C connector.

The Samsung 25W USB-C Fast Charging Wall Charger can supply 25 watts (12 volts @ 2.1 amps), 15 watts (9 volts @ 1.67 amps), and 10 watts (5 volts @ 2 amps) of charging through its USB Type-A port as claimed.

After connecting the Google Pixel with the Samsung charger using the USB Type-A to Type-C cable accessory that came with the charger, we observe the charging behavior through the Granite River Labs GRL-USB-PD-A1 analyzer.

Starting from a 5% battery charge, the Google Pixel appears to draw only about 5 watts (5 volts @ 1 amps) power to charge with the Samsung 25W charger. Observe that it also takes more than 10 seconds for the phone to only start pulling current while switched on.

The Google Pixel is able to charge with the Samsung 25W USB-C Fast Charging Wall Charger, but at a much slower rate than using Google's own Google 18W USB-C Power Adapter through USB Power Delivery over USB Type-C (get more info here). Unfortunately, the Google Pixel can’t take advantage of the higher power available to enable any fast charging with the Samsung 25W charger.
