With a name that sounds like Apple's Macbook Air, it's no wonder that Xiaomi's first 2016 Mi Notebook Air laptop was made to rival Apple. Best known for its ultra low cost mobiles, Xiaomi was also selling the stylish Windows 10 laptop at an unbelievably low price at that time.
The Mi Notebook Air 13.3" that comes with a 13.3" screen is powered by the Intel Core i5 (6th Generation) processor and NVIDIA GeForce 940MX graphics. The laptop provides quick charging over USB Type-C using USB Power Delivery technology. By supporting DisplayPort Alternate Mode over USB Type-C video outputs, the laptop can achieve a resolution of 4K@30Hz when connected to an external display.
Upon delivery of the Mi Notebook Air 13.3" that we bought in China, we noticed the packaging has a label for Level 1 China Energy Level. This indicates the rating for lightweight and portable devices which is supported by most laptops.
The Mi Notebook Air 13.3" came in a white box with a simple design that hints of Apple's signature style.
The fully silver notebook looks really slim but surprisingly doesn't have any logo on it unlike most laptops.
The accessories are kept to a minimal with only an instruction manual and a USB Type-C power adapter.
On one side of the notebook, there's a single USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C port which supports 3.25 amps charging over USB Power Delivery. There's also a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A port to attach your USB peripherals.
The other side has another USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A port as well as a HDMI output, and a 3.5 mm audio port. The HDMI port supports a 1920x1080@60Hz resolution.
The notebook opens up to display a 1080x1920 full HD screen with the Mi logo right below the screen. There's a standard keyboard and a pretty wide touch panel.
The notebook is equipped with a built-in lithium-ion polymer battery.
The power adapter comes with a USB Type-C connector and supports charging up to 65W (20 volts @ 3.25 amps) for the Mi Notebook Air 13.3".
To start up the Mi Notebook Air 13.3", make sure you have plugged in the power adapter and press the power button. You'll see a welcome screen where you can follow the instructions to set up the notebook. Once it has completed Windows update, it is ready for use.
