The LG G5 is the first phone from LG that supports USB 2.0, USB Power Delivery, and DisplayPort 1.2 over the new USB Type-C interface.  The G5 is perfect with the LG 27 inch Class Ultra HD IPS 4K 27UD88-W Monitor, LG's first USB Type-C 4K monitor.  Just connect the G5 directly to the monitor using the USB Type-C to Type-C cable that comes the monitor.

It's important that you only use the USB Type-C to Type-C cable that comes the monitor- we've found that other cables like even the Apple USB-C Charge Cable (2m) won't support DisplayPort on this LG display.  LG also reminds you only to use their cables with on screen warning messages every time you plug in a cable.

Once you connect the LG G5 to the LG 27 inch Class Ultra HD IPS 4K 27UD88-W Monitor, you will see the LG G5's screen mirrored onto the monitor's screen.

If you play a video from an App like Bloomberg, the video will play on the LG monitor rather than on the phone itself.

Any USB devices connected to the LG display will also enumerate as USB devices on the G5 itself.  If you open up the USB Device Info App, you can see not only the Texas Instruments' USB Hub and USB to Serial chips, but also the Apple iPad Pro and LaCie Porsche Design USB-C Mobile Drive.  The LaCie drive shows up as another storage device on the LG G5 while there isn't much you can do between the iPad Pro and the LG G5 since the G5 can't transfer photos out of the iPad Pro.

Most importantly, the LG 27 inch Class Ultra HD IPS 4K 27UD88-W Monitor will also charge your LG G5 while connected over USB or DisplayPort.  More in-depth USB Power Delivery testing traces will be taking on this later.
