Oppo Bets Big in Malaysia

China has become ground zero for the hyper competitive smartphone market and companies like Huawei (Huawei P8), Xiaomi (Xiaomi Mi Note Pro), OnePlus (OnePlus 2), CoolPad, LeTV (LeTV Le 1s), Oppo, etc. have been aggressively going after market share in both China as well as other overseas like Singapore, Turkey, Taiwan, and Israel.  In Penang, Malaysia, the main airport has been plastered with aggressive advertising from Oppo for many months.

 

You can see Oppo advertising on every column and on top of every entryway into the airport.

Oppo still has a ways to go in Malaysia though since their market share is still rather low compared to Samsung, Xiaomi, and Apple.  They utilize a similar heavy aggressive advertising strategy in Taiwan where they also have low market share.

The only place outside the airport without Oppo advertising was the Old Town White Coffee shop, which is as ubiquitous as Starbucks in the US.
