As previously tested with Apple Macbooks, the Anker PowerPort+ 5 USB-C (click here for Amazon pricing) is able to charge the Macs but not as fast as the Macs' own chargers. We will now see how this third party charger works with the Apple iPad Pro using the Granite River Labs USB Power Delivery test software.

The software initially captures the Anker PowerPort+ 5 USB-C's power profiles as 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps), 27 watts (9 volts @ 3 amps) and 45 watts (15 volts @ 3 amps) over the USB Type-C connector.

The Apple iPad Pro only requests 12 watts (5 volts @ 2.4 amps) from the Anker PowerPort+ 5 USB-C.

Further measurements on an oscilloscope show the charger supplying around 5 volts @ 0.1 amps to the Apple iPad Pro while fully charged.

From these results, the Anker PowerPort+ 5 USB-C can deliver up to 12 watts to the Apple iPad Pro using USB Power Delivery. This means it will charge slower compared to using the iPad's own Apple 29W USB-C Power Adapter.
