The Spectre x360 is one of the most powerful 2-in-1 notebook PC's released by HP which include 2017 models like the Spectre x360 (2nd Generation 2017) and Spectre x360 - 13-ae011dx (Late 2017). These hybrid laptops not only look good but also carry two Thunderbolt 3 based USB Type-C ports on one of the thinnest PC platforms out there.
The HP Spectre x360 - 13-ae011dx (Late 2017) has the newer and faster Intel Core i7-8550U processor compared to the Intel Core i7-7500U on the Spectre x360 (2nd Generation 2017) although both run on Windows 10 with 8 GB LPDDR3 SDRAM among the many other similarities.
You can expect an almost similar look and feel in the Spectre x360 series with a 13.3 inch full HD display with touch screen and a backlit keyboard with touchpad. The Bang & Olufsen brand of quad speakers are also a prominent feature on these PC's.
The two Thunderbolt 3 USB Type-C ports are adjacently located on one side of the HP Spectre x360 - 13-ae011dx (Late 2017) which support Thunderbolt 3 (40 Gb/s), USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10 Gb/s), DisplayPort 1.2 to connect with 4k@60hz displays, and uses USB Power Delivery technology. These Thunderbolt 3 ports can also be used to charge the HP Spectre x360 - 13-ae011dx (Late 2017).
The HP Spectre x360 - 13-ae011dx (Late 2017) similarly provides two USB-C ports out of its three USB connectors, with the third USB port being a USB 3.1 Gen 1 (5 Gb/s, Type-A) as the Spectre x360 (2nd Generation 2017), which is sitting on the other side of the PC. The nearby connectors consist of a 3.5 mm headphone/microphone combo jack and the power button.
Further down on the same side there is also a microSD card slot.
The familiar 360 degree geared hinge of the Spectre x360 series allows the notebook to be folded and used in four different modes.
The HP Spectre x360 - 13-ae011dx (Late 2017) is shipped with a USB Type-C based AC adapter (65 watts) along with a HP Spectre X360 stylus pen in natural silver to be used with its multi-touch enabled screen. The HP 65W USB-C AC Adapter provides USB Power Delivery charging using various non-standard power profiles consisting of 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps), 27 watts (9 volts @ 3 amps), 50 watts (10 volts @ 5 amps), 60 watts (12 volts @ 5 amps), 65 watts (15 volts @ 4.33 amps) and 65 watts (20 volts @ 3.25 amps), which we also verified here.
