The Sony A Series Walkman has focused on audiophiles willing to pay a premium for uncompressed music in FLAC or Apple Lossless format. Many of these audiophiles are probably heavy Mac users- so how do you transfer songs from a Mac like the Apple iMac with Retina 4K Display (Late 2015) to the Walkman?
First, click here to go to Sony's website and select the red download box to the right of where it says Macintosh. This will start to download the Walkman Content Transfer application.
When asked if you want to save the .dmg file, click Save File.
Once the download is complete, click on the file notification at the top of the browser or click on the file in the Downloads folder.
Once the .dmg file has been opened, in the resulting Content Transfer folder, double click the ContentTransfer.pkg file to start installing the Content Transfer application.
Follow the instructions in the Content Transfer installation windows to complete the process.
Once the installation is successful, after you plug the Walkman into a USB port at the back of the iMac, you will see the Content Transfer Application open and ready to transfer music, movies, and photos from your Mac to your Walkman. All you need to do is drag and drop the content you want to transfer onto the Walkman picture of the Application.
If you select the double arrow key to the right of where free storage space is shown, you can delete songs, photos, videos, podcasts, and playlists on the Walkman. Note you can't delete other files types on the Walkman.
If you select Automatic transfer, you can also set up whether you want to enable automatic transfers when the Walkman is connected to the Mac and which folders on the Mac you want to sync with.
If you disconnect the Walkman from the Mac, the Content Transfer program will still be there but will be dark and unusable.
Apple Mac enthusiasts will be happy to see that the Sony A Series Walkman works well on the Mac platform, and works great with the Apple iMac with Retina 4K Display (Late 2015). Too bad iTunes doesn't currently support Hi-Res Audio downloads, but there are many other online sites like Blue Coast Records, ProStudioMasters, Acoustic Sounds, iTrax, Native DSD, and Classics Online that you can use.
