Unlike other brands, Roku really stands out with products that try their best to work with products from everyone including Apple.  With the Roku 4, you can use popular Apple products like the iPad Air 2 to remotely control your Roku.

To set up the remote control, first go to the Apple App Store on the Apple iPad Air 2.  Search for a 3rd party App on the App Store like Video and TV Cast for Roku and install it on the iPad.

When you will open the App on the Roku, make sure the iPad and Roku are both on the same WI-FI network. The opening page of the App will show a browser page with instructions on how to use.

If you use the Safari browser to open a YouTube video, you will see a blue Video Cast icon on the top right.  Select this icon and then select the Roku 4.  You need to then select the link at the bottom of the browser to start casting the video to the Roku 4.  If you don't see the link at the bottom of the browser, you may need to first start the YouTube video.  You should then start seeing the video played on the TV connected to your Roku.

Roku doesn't have a native remote control App for Apple but fortunately Roku has a  developer community that has created apps allowing you to use your iPad Air 2 with the Roku 4.
