Google Cast can be used as an alternative to Miracast wireless display technology which is not supported by the Google Pixel 2 XL phone. The easiest way to enable Google Cast on the Google Pixel 2 XL is to use a Chromecast streaming device like the Google Chromecast (2013) which can plug into a TV with a HDMI port such as the Sony Bravia 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV with Android. This will enable you to wirelessly display YouTube and other Apps from your Pixel on to the Sony TV easily.
Assuming the Google Chromecast (2013) has already been attached to the TV, you should be able to see the Chromecast device as one of the Devices that needs setup. Select ‘Set Up’ to start pairing the phone with Chromecast over Wi-Fi. During the process, Chromecast may change the phone's Wi-Fi settings to join the Chromecast Wi-Fi network.
When a code appears on the Sony TV, ensure that it matches the one shown on the phone. If not, check that you have selected the same HDMI input on the TV to which your Chromecast device is connected. Once verified, you can proceed to select the location and set a name for Chromecast.
You will then need to connect Chromecast to an existing Wi-Fi network. Select and set up the Wi-Fi connection with Chromecast which when connected, you should be able to see the Chromecast device in the Cast screen. Select the Google Chromecast (2013) to begin the wireless casting process.
Once the casting connection is successful, you are ready to use screen mirroring, YouTube remote control, and other apps that take advantage of Chromecast. Just select the Chromecast icon on the menu bar of the YouTube App and you will be able to play YouTube video on the TV to which your Chromecast is connected.
