The Plugable Thunderbolt 3 Dual HDMI Adapter allows PC's with Thunderbolt 3 to connect to dual 4K@60hz displays as shown in this review with the Dell XPS 13 9350.  However, this only applies to Thunderbolt 3 PC's which have routed 8 lanes of 5.4 Gb/s HBR2 DisplayPort signals to the tunneled through the Thunderbolt link.  Unfortunately the Asus Q524UQ doesn't appear to do this.

To demonstrate this, first we connected the Vizio M-Series 4K Ultra HD Smart TV and a LG 4K Ultra HD Smart TV with webOS 2.0 (2015) with HDMI cables to the Plugable Thunderbolt 3 Dual HDMI Adapter.

When connecting the Plugable Thunderbolt 3 Dual HDMI Adapter to the Asus Q524UQ, we accepted adding the new Thunderbolt device in the pop up even though external displays connected through the Thunderbolt port still work regardless.

We can confirm with the Intel's Thunderbolt software built into Windows PC's that the Plugable Thunderbolt 3 Dual HDMI Adapter has successfully connected a Thunderbolt link to the Asus Q524UQ.

Unfortunately, only the LG 4K Ultra HD Smart TV with webOS 2.0 (2015) is enumerated properly while the Vizio M-Series 4K Ultra HD Smart TV is no where to be seen.  If the LG 4K Ultra HD Smart TV with webOS 2.0 (2015) is unplugged, the Vizio M-Series 4K Ultra HD Smart TV will enumerate instead.

Even though the Asus Q524UQ has a NVIDIA GeForce 940MX GPU, it is apparently using NVIDIA Optimus technology which allows the NVIDIA GPU to deal with graphics related computations when needed.

Unfortunately this means that the NVIDIA GPU can't be driving external displays which are only driven by Intel's graphics processor.  Asus has apparently implemented the Q524UQ is such a way that only a limited number of DisplayPort lanes are connected which means only 1 external HDMI display is supported.
