Courts had roots a long time ago in the UK selling furniture but is now headquartered Singapore selling electronics, furniture, and home appliances. Popping into Courts on Orchard Road in Singapore in the Fall of 2017, we could get a sense for what electronics brands were being sold in Singapore. Similar to how Singapore is a melting pot of people from around the world, Courts Singapore has many brands from around the world being represented in electronics retail. This phenomena was similar to the wide electronics section that we saw in  Australia from a previous review.

For fitness wearables, you could see Finland's Polar brand as well as the ubiquitous Fitbit brand from the US with products like the Charge 2. Alta, and Blaze.

Courts also had a display area from Actxa (which may be Singapore based) fitness trackers.

Even Xiaomi hsd a small display area for the cheap Xiaomi Mi Band 2.

For phones, the Huawei P10 was promoted heavily as well as the Galaxy Note 8.

Another phone brand on display at Courts was Kata, a US based brand selling ultra affordable Android phones sourced from China.

On the TV side, Courts was also still selling Japan's Panasonic TV's which had exited the US and other markets.

They also sold Philips TV's which are now owned by Taiwan based TPV.

Needless to say, Samsung and LG were well represented with a lot of models in the store. These Korean brands now dominate many markets outside of Japan and China.

To show who's the new king of media, US based Netflix had an entire wall display and dedicated demo person to show all the Netflix content you can enjoy in Singapore. This media juggernaut has taken advantage of the proliferation of inexpensive smart TV's and broadband as a new worldwide media platform and the need of content producers for capital to create more shows.

Singapore electronics retail has evolved from places like the Sim Lim Square made up of many smaller retail mom and pop shops to larger standalone format stores like Courts. With Amazon Prime Now now making a move into Singapore with same day delivery, retailers like Courts will have a lot more to worry about given the fate of other brick and motors electronics retailers in other countries with a strong Amazon presence.
