The LG V30 supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ technology which means the phone can be charged using USB Power Delivery 3.0 and Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 based chargers. We used the Xiaomi Mi Power Bank Pro 10000mAh with a USB Type-C port to see how it supplies power to the LG V30 through Qualcomm Quick Charge. Note that the USB Type-A port of the Xiaomi power bank serves as the output while the USB Type-C port is only used to charge the battery, both supporting Qualcomm Quick Charge.
After connecting a USB Type-A to Type-C cable in between the LG V30 and the Mi Power Bank Pro 10000mAh with a USB Type-C port, we observed using the GRL-USB-PD-C2 Compliance Test Solution App how charging happened over Qualcomm Quick Charge. The LG phone started off charging with the Xiaomi power bank by pulling initial current to about 1.5 amps on a early 5 volts rail to draw around 7.5 watts (5 volts @ 1.5 amps) power. About 2 minutes into charging, the phone went on to pull quick charging current from 0.1-1.6 amps as the voltage was transitioning from 5 volts rail to a 9 volts rail. During that time the phone was observed to draw power up to 14 watts (8.6 volts @ 1.6 amps) which was the max power consumed. Both the current and voltage eventually settled out to allow charging at mostly around 12 watts (8.7 volts @ 1.4 amps). 12 watts charging is still lower than the max power that the LG 16W Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 charger can deliver to the phone.
