The Huawei P10 supports Huawei SuperCharge technology over its USB Type-C interface using chargers like the Huawei SuperCharge  charger which can supply up to 22.5 watts (4.5 volts @ 5 amps or 5 volts @ 4.5 amps). However you need to use the USB Type-C to USB Type-A cable that came with the Huawei SuperCharge charger accessory or in the Huawei P10 box. Unfortunately USB cables tend to get mixed up with other cables so it's hard to identify the Huawei SuperCharge cable other than its purple USB Type-A connector since Huawei did not clearly mark the cable.

Let's see what happens when a user uses a general USB Type-A to Type-C cable (not the Huawei SuperCharge cable) to charge their Huawei P10 with the Huawei SuperCharge charger.

When we first plugged in the Huawei P10 to the Huawei SuperCharge using a generic USB Type-A to Type-C cable, starting with a fully depleted battery the phone took about 112 minutes to fully charge.

During the initial plug in there was a brief period that 5 volts was pulled but most of the charging took place at 4.5 volts. Only after 80 minutes of charging did the voltage level rise up to 5 volts but which point the current pulled was under 1 amps.

While the phone was switched off or in sleep mode, the current pulled was 3 amps for the first 65 minutes of charging. If the phone was being used while 3D games or movies were streamed, the current dropped to 1.5 amps.

Because the SuperCharge cable wasn't used, throughout the entire power charging cycle, we never saw the power reach even close to 22.5 watts. Rather than reach 5 amps, the current at most stayed at 3 amps. Unfortunately, Huawei doesn't make it clear to the user if the SuperCharge cable isn't being used and the only thing that the user may notice is that it takes longer to charge their phone.
