To use it with the HTC 10, you first need to install the Garmin Mobile Connect App and log into your Garmin account.
Once that is done, go to the Main Menu on the App and select the Garmin Devices screen. If you have registered the Garmin vivosmart HR before, you should be able to see the Garmin device listed here. If not, select the '+' sign on the upper right to add it to your Garmin account. While we will assume that the Garmin device has been added before, at the same time, also check that your Bluetooth is turned on before pairing with the device.
You will need to fill in your personal details before starting the pairing process. On the Garmin vivosmart HR, press the button on the side to enter your settings and swipe until you see 'Bluetooth'. After selecting Bluetooth, swipe again until 'Pair Smartphone' appears and then tap on the screen.
When the App has found the Garmin device, quickly enter the number shown on the Garmin into the Device Setup on the App. Note that if the Garmin is already connected to another device, the App will ask you to reset device. Choose 'RESET' to continue with the device setup.
Use the MyFitnessPal app to keep track on your calorie goals and daily fitness regime. To sync information between Garmin Connect Mobile and MyFitnessPal, on the My Day screen, tap on Remaining or Consumed followed by Log Calories in MFP. If you already have MyFitnessPal, it will take you directly to the App or it will prompt you to install.
When completed, you are ready to play and Garmin provides a lot of vibrant looking screens that help you track your fitness stats. Looking at the fitness data analyzed on the graphs and tracking performance to goals can actually be fun, especially when you can share them with family and friends.
