A Close Up on the 2nd Generation Beats Studio 2013 Headphones
Beats seemed to have focused a lot on ergonomics when it reinvented its original flagship Studio headphones. The Beats Studio (2013) sports a lighter and stronger body with improved headband and ear cups to provide a more comfortable wear. This upgraded model is equipped with a rechargeable battery that can last up to 20 hours of use. The LED battery gauge feature that comes with the battery provides a visual indication of the battery status when the headphones are being charged.
We got our vibrant blue Beats Studio (2013) headphones in a nice packaging which fits two individual boxes. Unpacking these boxes gave us the headphones as well as a USB 2.0 charging cable with a USB micro-B connector, USB power adapter, 3.5 mm audio cable, RemoteTalk cable, hard shell carrying case, and cleaning cloth. The headphones can be conveniently folded and fit nicely in the sleek shell case.
There's a single multifunctional connector on the left ear cup which offers playback and AUX in control. Surprisingly, the Beats logo on the ear cup is actually a mute control pushbutton for noise cancelation which is pretty unique. The logo when pushed works to filter out both music and noise from your surroundings.
The right ear cup provides a micro-USB port for charging, power/pair button, and LED battery gauge. The LED is a cool addition which conveniently indicates the remaining charge status through a series of 5 progress lights. The power on/off button can also be used to check on the remaining battery life.
For power saving, the Beats Studio (2013) will automatically power on/off when you unplug the audio cable from the headphones.
