Asus C201PA Chromebook a Perfect Budget Laptop

While some Chromebooks like HP's 13 G1 are now aiming to enter the professional market,  others like the Asus C201PA remain great alternatives for those of us on a budget. Listed under $200 on many websites, this Chromebook is a great choice for anyone who wants to satisfy their internet connectivity needs. 

The Asus C201PA uses an ARM based Rockchip Quad-Core RK3288C Processor which is typically found in Chinese tablets. 

The Chromebook arrived in a cardboard box, complete with its warranty booklet and a folded multi-panel user guide pamphlet that explains the basic layout of the laptop, its ports, and how to get started, in addition to the standard safety material.

Setting up the Chromebook is fast and easy as usual. Language, time zone, and Google account settings are set up in a breeze and soon after it is ready for regular use. Chrome apps associated with the google account are quickly downloaded and installed, as per standard Chromebook procedure. 

The experience with setting up Chromebooks and using Chrome OS does not vary due to the simplicity and nature of the system, so most of the price differences between different models comes from the specifications of the hardware. That being said, any concerns that a sub-$200 laptop is of low quality can be lain to rest. The touchpad is responsive and feels decent, and the keyboard functions well and does not feel bad to type on. The viewing angle of the screen is not great, but it is still HD. The most impressive feature is the battery life, which boasts over 13 hours of use between full charges. 

It is easy to see why a Chromebook such as the Asus C201PA could be used for education or other purposes in which hardware requirements are not high but a laptop is required.
