China became the factory of the world based on making cheaper sophisticated products like smartphones and TV's than everyone else. However, Chinese product companies fear Xiaomi who commoditize everything to unbelievable pricing levels even for China.  As long the product is something many consumers want, Xiaomi wants to capture most of that market leaving the rest of its competitors struggling to eke out a profit.

In the Xiaomi Shanghai Fans Club Showroom, Xiaomi's ambitions are on full display.  But first you need to figure out how to find the showroom.  Since most customers buy directly from Xiaomi online based on price, Xiaomi expects loyal fans to find its showrooms typically tucked away in some hard to find office building.

Shanghai, a population of over 22 million has only one Xiaomi showroom so you are bound to always find people there despite how difficult it is to find from the outside.

Xiaomi is of course known for their phones where they are the number one seller in China.  This includes the Mi Note Pro and their Mi Pad 2, both very much targeting Apple's model of design, brand, ecosystem but at a much lower price.  Next Xiaomi is again targeting Apple with upcoming low cost stylish notebooks.

However, Xiaomi's ambitions go beyond Apple's focus on sophisticated electronic works of art.  Xiaomi wants to sell everything the consumer wants.  Some popular items such as mobile power banks to charge your phone or tablet makes sense.  That's not enough though for Xiaomi.  When they go for a market, they go at it with gusto and are also now offering more "low-tech" products like power strips and regular disposable batteries.

Going further afield, Xiaomi is also getting into the water purifiers market, undoubtedly a big market in China.

Want a cheaper version of the Segway?  Well, Xiaomi has their personal transporter as well which I guess could be a big market someday although certainly not now.

Personal transporters aside, most of Xiaomi's products are going after hot markets including GoPro style action cameras and fitness wearables with their Mi Band.

Amazon's Echo product is also in Xiaomi's sights.

Another big market that Xiaomi wants to win over is the TV market. Each of their showrooms have a special living room style to showcase their 4K TV's, TV sound bars, WI-FI routers, and 4K streaming media players like the Mi Box 3.

I guess Xiaomi is not making many friends going after so many markets with their ultra-low cost pricing strategy.  Their ambition and aspirations seems to have no limit and their growing fan base loves it.
