Wi-Fi Direct is supposed to be a universal standard such that any device supporting Wi-Fi Direct can send or receive files to another device supporting Wi-Fi Direct.
Unfortunately, many companies implement Wi-Fi Direct differently such that their devices are not interoperable with each other.
To see if the Huawei P8 can share files with the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, I first set up Wi-Fi Direct between both phones
When I tried to transfer a movie from the Huawei P8 to the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, the Huawei P8 gave a warning that Wi-Fi Direct can only be performed with other Huawei devices.
However, despite that warning the movie was received by the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. On the other hand, when I tried to send a movie from the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge to the Huawei P8, an error occurred and the file did not transfer at all.
It almost seems that companies go through extraordinary lengths just to make it difficult for their devices to share files with one another.
