The Fitbit Charge HR is an excellent fitness tracker that fortunately works well with the LG Google Nexus 5X.

First go to Google Play to download and install the Fitbit App.

When you open the Fitbit App, you will need to create a new Fitbit account or sign into your existing one.

In this case, I already had the Charge HR associated with my Fitbit account and the Fitbit App notified me I needed to update the tracker software.  After selecting the Charge HR in the main Dashboard screen, you will get taken to the Devices screen.  From there, select Charge HR to get taken to the Charge HR screen and then select Update Tracker Software.  When I first tried to update the Tracker Software, the Fitbit bluetooth service was reported as busy and I had to try again.

I was then automatically brought to the Nexus 5X's Android Location screen where I turned on Location services so the App could know my current location.  Once I was automatically returned to the Charge HR screen, I selected Update Tracker Software again.

The App will then going through a series of screens for updating the Charge HR.  Since the update is happening over Bluetooth, you will need to leave your Fitbit Charge HR near the Nexus until the update is completed.

Once the Fitbit Charge HR software update is completed, you will no longer see the Update Tracker Software message.  The Charge HR will then sync automatically with the Nexus 5X.  You can also manually force the sync by selecting the sync symbol next to the Charge HR in the Dashboard

From the Dashboard, you can also easily navigate to other screens to observe your steps, heart rate, distance moved, calories consumed, floors climbed, etc.

The Fitbit Charge HR works very smoothly with the LG Google Nexus 5X and the new Android Marshmallow operating system.  Given how Google uses the Nexus phones as a reference for other Android phones to follow, that's a good sign for future Android compatibility for the Fitbit Charge HR.
