Belkin has been an important part of the USB Type-C and Power Delivery ecosystem by being early to market with products while focusing on specification compliance. Belkin now also has the industry's first USB Type-C car charger that supports USB Power Delivery, the simply named USB-C Car Charger + Cable.
The USB-C Car Charger + Cable supports up to 27 watts with 5 volts @ 3 amps and 9 volts @ 3 amps support.
The USB-C Car Charger + Cable box is the same basic design as other Belkin USB Type-C accessory boxes like the Belkin USB-C to VGA Adapter and Belkin USB-C to USB-A Adapter.
The box contains the USB Type-C based car charger itself and a USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable. Note this cable, like most other cables that come with chargers, only supports USB 2.0 connections in addition to charging.
I had the pleasure of trying the Belkin USB-C Car Charger + Cable on a couple trips in Northern California and driving from Detroit to Chicago.
For phones like the Huawei P9 that have USB Type-C but don't support USB Power Delivery for faster charging, you should just expect longer charging times associated with legacy USB interfaces.
See below examples of how the Belkin USB-C Car Charger + Cable works with other devices that support faster charging possible with USB Type-C.
