USB Type-C is a new technology and the Apple MacBook (Early 2015) was the second USB Type-C notebook released (the first being Google Chromebook Pixel). Apple announced there was a design flaw with the Apple USB-C Charge Cable (2m) that had been shipped with the MacBook and has allowed customers to get a replacement. The cable packaging was more Amazon than Apple but came promptly after I made the replacement request online.
Apple chose to support only USB 2.0 (480 Mb/s) speeds on this cable so don't use this cable if you are planning to connect to USB 3.1, Thunderbolt 3, or USB Type-C monitors.
