If you need to use a USB Type-C hub like the Plugable USB-C 3-Port Hub with Pass-Through Charging with the Google Pixel, you can still charge the phone using the Google Pixel's charger through the hub.

Using software from Granite River Labs, first we look at the USB Power Delivery negotiation between the Google Pixel's charger and the Plugable USB-C 3-Port Hub with Pass-Through Charging.  Note the battery on the Google Pixel is well charged.

First we see that the Google Pixel's charger offers 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps) and 18 watts (9 volts @ 2 amps) to the Plugable USB-C 3-Port Hub.  The Plugable USB-C 3-Port Hub will then request 5 volts @ 3 amps from the charger.

When we then look at the USB Power Delivery negotiation between the Plugable USB-C 3-Port Hub and the Google Pixel, we can see the hub offers 2.5 watts (5 volts @ .5 amps) and 13 watts (9 volts @ 1.44 amps).  The current is lower than what the Google Pixel's charger provides directly since some of the power needs to support the Plugable USB-C 3-Port Hub and any downstream USB devices.

The Google Pixel then requests 9 volts @ 1.44 amps from the Plugable USB-C 3-Port Hub.

We observed that the Google Pixel then draws 0.5 amps @ 9 volts from the Plugable USB-C 3-Port Hub

The USB Power Delivery behavior seen when the Plugable USB-C 3-Port Hub is passing through power from Google Pixel's own USB Power Delivery charger is a lot different from what you get when you plug the charger directly into the Google Pixel.
